As a follow-up to last week’s post, here is an article that names popular cereal brands that contain genetically modified corn products. Many of us probably consumed a lot o these cereals either as children or at some point in our adulthood. I know they taste good (coming from a former sugar cereal lover)..but here is more proof why these cereal brands are not good for you and your long-term health. Despair not!! There are yummy healthy and non-GMO alternatives you can switch to 🙂

Note from Vitamin Ray: This article is great evidence as to why I am against genetically modified food and the high occurence of it in the food that we eat everyday. When you go to the supermarket, if a package does not say “100% organic” and “Non-GMO” then you are probably purchasing food containing ingredients that have been manipulated and chemically altered in a lab somewhere.

Even with foods that ARE labeled “Non-GMO” might have trace amounts of or cross-contamination with GMO foods due to the lack of regulation with food labels and manufacturing processes. However, I always pick  the product labeled “Non-GMO” versus the product that fails to say whether it is GMO or not because I know in this case LESS is BEST!

Mushrooms: Unsuspected Superheroes for Saving Life On Earth!

Salutations my friends! On this glorious morning, I was directed to a TED Talk link on Paul Stamets (aka “The Mushroom Man”). Paul Stamets is a brilliant award-winning  mycologist who champions for the incredible benefits of fungi and how life on earth would be nonexistent without our precious mushrooms. He firmly believes mushrooms are our ecological saviors in a future where the human species are pushing our existence closer to the brink of our own extinction and many other species too.

I’ve read many articles and book excerpts proclaiming the unbelievable healing properties of mushrooms. Mushrooms can be our solution to eradication of certain viruses, controlling invasive insect populations, preventing and curing cancer, rebuilding damaged ecological systems, creating new ecological systems from practically nothing, and many more. Hot Dog Lovers…BEWARE!

The HOT DOG…such a typical “American” food!  Did you know that the average American consumes up to 70 hot dogs a year?!! I think the last time I ate a hot dog was 12 years ago, and my stomach and liver are deeply grateful for it.

TO JUICE OR NOT TO JUICE…

Juicing for your health: Fact or Fad?

Who hasn’t seen the countless infomercials for Jack LaLanne’s Power Juicer or the Juiceman Juicer over the years? We have all heard the hype about how great and nutritious it is to drink freshly juiced fruits and vegetables. There have been numerous testimonies on the healing powers of  juice.

So what’s the verdict? FACT!!

That’s right people, this isn’t just a fad. There is empirical and medical evidence that validates how beneficial it is to drink freshly juiced produce. The Nutrition Journal is one resource that has multiple scientific studies on the importance of drinking 100% fruit and vegetable juice (see links below). Furthermore, the USDA, CDC, and American Cancer Society all recommend we get 5 or more servings of fruits and veggies a day. What better way to meet that requirement than to juice and drink some of your daily servings. 🙂

What’s in fresh juice that makes it so great? Live enzymes and easily absorbed vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, complex carbs, and protein (yes, PROTEIN). For optimal absorption, consume fresh juice soon after juicing and on an empty stomach or 2-3 hrs after eating a meal.

Why consume on an empty stomach? Food present in the stomach can block the juice from having proper absorption by the digestive tract. Thus, limiting the amount of vital nutrients we can receive from the juice. In layman’s terms, you get more bang for your buck if you drink when your stomach is clear because there is no food present to run an interference against scoring your nutrient touch down.

Bottom-line, juicing is the easiest and tastiest way to supplement. People who juice regularly can slow down signs of aging, maintain higher energy levels, limit the effects of various diseases, prevent and reverse cancer, lose weight, and enjoy a plethora of other benefits. If we tried to eat the amount of fruits and veggies needed to produce the same beneficial effects, we’d spend all of our days chewing instead of doing more important tasks like living a life.

So do yourself a favor…get a juicer and start juicing today!

Side Note: There are several types of juicers on the market. Check out the buying guide websites to see which is right for you. I have a Jack LaLanne’s Power Juicer Express. I bought it because it has a reasonable price, a lower RPM of 3600**, a large spout so you don’t have to chop your veggies and fruit before juicing, and it is dishwasher friendly.

**Lower RPM means your juicer will create less heat while it’s juicing. You want less heat so you can minimize destroying the live enzymes in the fruit. Plus, a lower RPM makes for a quieter juicer.

A New Alternative to KILLER (ahem…I mean) CHEMOtherapy

Thermotherapy alternative to chemotherapy uses heat, not poison, to kill tumors.

The above link is a natural news article about using the newer technique of hyperthermia aka “thermotherapy” as a better and more natural approach than traditional chemotherapy. A brief summary, thermotherapy is a form of heat therapy where they inject tumors and cancer cells with a special fluid to isolate them via magnetism before applying heat to kill them. These scientists have found a way to use heat, instead of poison and toxins to not only kill cancer but also preserve the patient’s healthy cells, tissues, and overall immunity. Chemotherapy, on the other hand, involves killing EVERYTHING (healthy & cancerous tissues and cells) in order to kill off the cancer.

It is unfortunate that many patients who receive chemotherapy as cancer treatment suffer and die from the effects of the chemo toxins rather than from cancer itself. People deserve to know there are other more natural and less harmful alternatives available for cancer treatment. While this form of thermotherapy is still in clinical trials, there are still other alternatives.

Despite popular notion, cancer can be CURED and I know this from my own experience. The human body is an amazing dynamic healing mechanism, and it can even heal itself from cancer. Research found that people who eat and drink excessively with junk food, meats, sodas, processed juices, etc create an acidic environment in their bodies that is ideal for cancer cells to grow. However, a daily diet of fresh raw produce, sprouted grains, fresh juices, filtered water and nutritionally fortified foods create an alkaline environment in which cancer CANNOT thrive.

2.) ELIMINATE SMOKING & ALCOHOL: Whether you are a chain smoker or live with one, you need to avoid cigarettes and the smoke as much as possible. Even second-hand smoke is detrimental to your success in healing. Furthermore, alcohol needs to be eliminated from your diet as well. Alcohol is highly acidic and it is a depressant, both cancer-friendly properties.

3.) BOOST IMMUNE SYSTEM: There is a plethora of herbs, vitamins, and botanicals that have incredible cancer-fighting properties. If you have been reading my blog, you already know vitamin C and D are two key vitamins to boosting immunity health. But there is more…much more. For example, cooked tomatoes are an excellent source of lycopene (a major cancer-fighting carotenoid). Some other cancer fighters/immune boosters are astragalus, garlic, echinacea, chlorophyll, and vitamin B complex. The list goes on and on, but it is best to seek advisement from your doctor to determine which deficiencies you have in order to best supplement for them.

4.) MEDITATION: This is not just a practice for monks! There are various ways to meditate, and it is one of the best methods for nurturing and healing your mind and spirit. Yes, thinking like a Negative Nancy and staying stressed is BAD for your health. To beat cancer, both your body and mind need to be in tune and at peace. BALANCE…it is a necessity for activating your body’s healing response.

Finally, cancer does not have to be an instant death sentence. You can fight it and win if you utilize all the tools available to your disposal. In addition, please take the time to seek a physician who can truly help you actualize this fact without killing your body.
